Purpose of the program
ColorFolders allows you to change the icon of any normal folder in Windows. Just select the folder whose icon should be modified, then one of the six preset foldericons or a custom icon you created yourself. This way you can better organize your harddisk, by assigning a certain color to a group of folders. E.g. you could paint all your system folders (like C:\Windows and C:\Program Files) in one specific color.
Installation
Simply run the installer and follow the instructions on the screen. For uninstallation, use the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel in Windows.
How to use the program
Run the program and click on "Browse for folder". Select the folder you want to customize, and choose an icon from the 6 presets, or by clicking "Choose custom icon ..." if you have a certain *.ico, *.icl or *.dll file in mind. To make the changes to the folder, click on "Use this icon!".
If you later decide you want to return to the standard folder icon, you merely select the folder in question, and click on "Reset folder".
Attention: Changes might not always show right away in Windows. Sometimes it's necessary to close the folder window and reopen it.
System requirements
- a computer ... :-)
- any Windows platform (tested in Win98, WinNT4 and Win2000 but it should work in Win95 and WinME too).
